On Tuesday morning, we got the nice surprise of a new collaboration between Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Mick Jagger, titled “Eazy Sleazy.” The lyrics have been debated on social media, as Jagger talks about his life during the pandemic, and getting the vaccine. He also seems to be tired of TikTok. Who knew he even watched?
After watching this, we thought we would take a look at some other interesting solo collabs from the Stones legend.
“Use Me” (Featuring Lenny Kravitz)
A nice pairing on the Bill Withers classic, from Jagger’s very strong solo record, “Wandering Spirit.”
You’re So Vain-Carly Simon
Even though there’s another lost Carly Simon/Mick Jagger track called “Fragile,” which surfaced a few years ago, we are going to go with the classic “You’re So Vain,” with Jagger on background vocals. Also, the song is not about him. It is about three men, with Simon naming Warren Beatty as one of them.
“Wild Horses” (With Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder)
We could really go down a rabbit hole here with live duets, but one that sticks out is this “Wild Horses” duet with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Jagger. I know, this isn’t Jagger solo with an artist, but I had to slip this one in. The Rolling Stones and Pearl Jam were touring together in 2005, in Pittsburgh.
The Jacksons-State of Shock
This was a complete accident. Queen frontman Freddie Mercury was supposed to be Michael Jackson’s duet partner, but couldn’t do it at the last minute. Jagger stepped in, and it became a monster smash for the reunited Jacksons.
Peter Tosh – “(You Gotta Walk And) Don’t Look Back”
This is a Temptations cover that Peter Tosh and Jagger did on SNL in the late 70’s. They also toured together during the “Some Girls” tour.
Muddy Waters and Mick Jagger-Champagne and Reefer
The Stones would also do this with Buddy Guy in later years, but this is at Buddy Guy’s Checkerboard Lounge in 1981.
Tina Turner and Mick Jagger-“State of Shock/It’s Only Rock and Roll”
At last check, Turner was leading the fan voting for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is a great, energetic performance with Jagger at Live Aid in 1985.
